Silicon Milkroundabout is a tech jobs fair like no other. "Its like a festival in a jobs fair" - Ian Hogarth, Co-Founder Songkick.

Specialising in mid-senior roles within tech startups to well known household names. I was the first full time employee, bought in to innovate and manage the design, organisation and execution of the live event. Over 10 years I worked my way up to Managing Director and was instrumental in growing the business from a part-time project in a pub to a highly profitable multi million pound business with expansion overseas. Getting stuck in and wearing many hats meant the event very quickly became ‘my baby’ so to speak.

In 2016 I became Chief Operating Officer and Co-Owner and in 2021 I became Managing Director where I created the template and processes for how SMR operates. We reinvented the way people found jobs in the tech industry through a bi-annual tech festival at The Old Truman Brewery. Seeing 200 companies and 4000 attendees across one weekend and managing a team of 80+ including caterers, suppliers and production team, turning over 1.4 million and starting its sister company, The Round, in New York.

One of our most attractive USP's is we put our own spin on the way people traditionally find jobs. Making a super creative environment with a killer lineup including; a free bar, panel talks, delicious caterers, interactive art installations, free kids workshop and childcare, cinema area, circus acts and more. Creating this environment meant (not only was it fun for us to work on) it brought people together with a real sense of community. The playful environment made people relax and in turn have much more valuable conversations.

Build templates to codify and roll out the event to other cities.

Influence and manage special projects such as; designing and experience for both online and offline. 

The hiring of both full-time and contract employees. Team wellbeing.

Company accounts including owning the event budget and spend. Meticulously recording every penny spent and negotiating at every opportunity.

Built relationships with suppliers, designing floor plans as well as looked after the logistics of the event.
