Hi, I'm Laura...

I'm a multi-disciplined operational manager and creative producer with over 20 years of experience working in the events industry, 8 of which have been running small scale businesses.

I care about creating memorable experiences through; positive teamwork, purpose lead initiatives, beautiful design, authentic communication strategy, clever brand marketing and great customer service.

I thrive in agile teams who are passionate about their company's mission and thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and building new relationships.

For me the team and culture within a company is everything. Working with people who are enthusiastic about what they do is really important. I find it extremely appealing to be a part of a 'muck in wherever needed' environment and have made many special friendships from eating pizza at 2am whilst working on spreadsheets and problem-solving up against a tight deadline.

Originally from Devon, I started working in my mid-teens in hospitality which saw me through to my early twenties, at the age of 17 I assisted the Set Designer on the Channel 4 show Teachers. I was amazed that I could make a living out of doing something which I got so much enjoyment out of.

I then moved to London and completed a degree at Rose Bruford in Stage Management. Although the course was focused on theatre I liked to push the boundaries and find as many opportunities as I could to involve other industries such as art, music and communities.

This was the perfect transition into life as a freelancer where I was exposed to a fast learning curve; hustling with little budgets but big ideas, covering a lot of departments solo and meeting some really incredible people.

I was the first full time employee at Silicon Milkroundabout, Europe’s largest tech job event and worked my way up to become Managing Director. I was instrumental in growing the business from a pop up event in a pub to a multi million pound company and eventually creating The Round, its sister company in New York. My most role as MD taught me a considerable amount, I learnt to graft even harder and take pride in every opportunity no matter how big or small.

Although many of job titles have been in events I have also been lucky enough to lead in the following areas:
